Description of the Treasure Hunt
A long time ago, some villains stole your treasure. In this case, the treasure was made up of diamonds. The diamonds were kept in a chest or a box. At that time, the villains were caught by the police, the chest was found empty, and the villains are now in prison. The problem is that the police never found the contents of your treasure. It must be nearby, there’s no doubt about it. You have a good idea of the area where your diamonds should be, but unfortunately, you’ve never managed to find them.
But today is a special day ! Somehow, you can feel that there are incredible diamond hunters among your guests. You must take advantage of this opportunity, as it doesn’t come around every day.
Now it’s your job to brief your team of treasure hunters on the area you suspect contains your precious items.
Necessary accessories
- Objects to scatter, such as fake diamonds (or fake coins). If these are not available, find something that will motivate the children, like small toy cars perhaps.
- Optionally, have a chest in which you, the lucky owner, will reconstruct your treasure.
End of the game
All the objects have been found, phew, you have recovered your treasure.
Procedure
- Scatter all the diamonds in the designated area (indoors or outdoors). Be sure to remember the different spots where you’ve hidden the diamonds. You decide how many items to hide, based on the number of children, their behavior, and the time you want to allocate to this game. If the game is short, nothing stops you from repeating it.
- Explain to the children where the search area is because, yes, you’re convinced that your diamonds can only be there!
- Tell them how many diamonds need to be found. It’s crucial to find them all.
- “Attention, children, during a treasure hunt, working as a team is the key to finding the treasure. Look everywhere. There’s no need to look up high, above your head, as there won’t be any diamonds there.”
- Decide if a little hint might be useful at times to give a child their moment of glory or because a hiding spot turned out to be quite tricky.
- When all the diamonds have been found, your heroes have certainly earned a drink, a snack, or a little treat like some candies or fruits.
