The crazy eights si the source of inspiration for Uno. This game is played by 2 to 5 players. Objective? Exhaust your cards and make sure your opponents have as many as possible.
The crazy eights is a well-known card game that, in just a few rounds, can transform a group of friends into a horde of fierce competitors! Armed with nothing more than a standard deck of 54 cards, minus the jokers, players are launched into a thrilling race to get rid of all their cards first. You can use two decks of cards instead of one to make the game smoother and renew the draw pile less often.
- 1 or 2 decks of 54 cards
- 1 sheet of paper and 1 pen for keeping score
- For better game comfort, a game mat could be appreciated. The cards slide better on the table.
Each player counts the total points of all the remaining cards in their hand. Number cards are worth their face value (e.g., a 2 is worth 2 points, a 7 is worth 7 points, etc.), face cards (Jacks, Queens, Kings) are worth 10 points, and Aces are worth 1 point. In some rules, an eight can be worth 50 points. The player who gets rid of all their cards first wins the points corresponding to the sum of the points of the cards remaining in the other players' hands.
The rounds continue until a player reaches a certain score, for example, 500 points, and that player is then declared the winner. The target score can be set at the beginning of the game.
